Spanish media: Atencio s lawyer reached an agreement with the video victim, hoping to reduce the criminal responsibility of players
According to the Spanish media "Atlántico Hoy", Raul Asensio's lawyer reached an agreement with the woman in the video case, hoping to reduce Asensio's criminal responsibility.
Previously, Raul Asensio and his three former teammates were charged for allegedly spreading child pornography and leaking privacy, accusing them of filming sexual videos of two women (one of them) and spreading them without consent. Among them, Raul Asensio was asked to be sentenced to four years in prison by the prosecution, while his three former youth teammates Andres Garcia, Ferran Ruiz and Juan Rodriguez were asked to be sentenced to 10 more months.
Asensio's attorney Camp Ruby has reached an agreement with the video's victims, and the lawyer (who is also Real Madrid's legal counsel) is to mitigate Asensio's criminal liability in the case.
According to the media, the agreement is intended to characterize Asensio's conduct as a misdemeanor and to exclude him from the current litigation proceedings involving three other players. Such misdemeanors are only fined and not sentenced to imprisonment under Article 197 of the Spanish Criminal Code, which is used to punish acts of invading privacy and revealing other people's secrets.
Despite this agreement, the procuratorate has not decided to remove Asensio from the proceedings. The prosecution is currently studying what charges it will be prosecuted, and stressed that even with the above agreement, Asensio will still appear in court with other players involved in the case.
