Rollfies: Not let Echeviri participate in the U20 World Cup, Manchester City and players know this decision

Leverkusen CEO Simon Rollfies announced that Echeviri will not be allowed to participate in the U20 World Cup.

The 2025 U20 World Cup will be held from September 27 to October 20. 19-year-old Argentine player Echeviri is also a player of the age, but Rollfies announced that he would not let him go. According to the rules, the U20 World Cup is not an international A-level event, so the club must not be forced to let players participate. The U20 national team needs to obtain the club's consent when recruiting players.

Rolfice said: "We need Echeviri, he will stay. This is our view and Manchester City's view. And when introducing players, all parties also communicated on this matter, and the players also understand this."

Echeviri was loaned to Leverkusen by Manchester City this summer, but only played twice in the Bundesliga this season, totaling 35 minutes. Although Echeviri is not the main player of Leverkusen, Leverkusen still regards him as an available member of the first team, so he is unwilling to let him return to Argentina's U20 national team to participate, which will result in players missing Leverkusen's multiple games.

Argentina U20 national team coach Placente is an old player of Leverkusen and has a good relationship with Leverkusen club. He hopes to convince Leverkusen to release the person, but Leverkusen still decides to keep Echeviri. However, Leverkusen is willing to let another Argentine U20 player, Alejo Salco, return home to participate because the 19-year-old striker has not yet gained a foothold in Leverkusen's first team.
