Nesta: My father once refused Roma to let me go to Lazio for a trial training. If I have the opportunity, I may coach Lazio.
When participating in the show, Italian star Nesta shared his connection with Lazio and talked about topics such as rejecting Roma and future coaching.
How did your deep relationship with Lazio begin?
My family are die-hard Lazio fans. I grew up in an apartment block full of Roma fans, and my sense of belonging to the Blazers was shaped by my father, who rejected all temptations from our cross-town rivals.
My father turned down Rome, and we were very proud of that. My family are all ‘Lazioists’. When I was seven or eight years old, I played for Cinecittà. That club was an affiliate of Roma, but my father saw in the newspaper that there was a trial with Lazio. My father said I couldn't go to Rome and had to go on trial with Lazio.
How do you see the possibility of returning to Lazio as a coach in the future?
On the one hand it is, on the other hand it is not. I believe that if I coached Lazio it would be the only team that would keep me awake at night because I would feel too big a responsibility. However, if this opportunity does arise one day, let's see.
