NBA legend Charles Barkley explained in the Bill Simmons podcast why the NBA introduced the second tyrant line rules.

"Why did they introduce these stupid rules? Because the players want to join in groups but not compete. James gathers his brothers, and KD wants to play with the Warriors. Wait, don't you guys want to compete with each other?" Barkley said. The second tyrant line rule will officially come into effect on July 1, 2023.
