Haslem: Ayton s style of play is a mid-range spy shooting, while the Lakers need him to pick-and-roll and get an all-in-one defense

In a recent podcast show, former NBA player Haslem talked about the adaptability of Ayton and the Lakers.

Haslem said: "I like Ayton, but that guy is the type of player who goes to his own dessert position, hold the ball to do spy steps, and recycle the center of gravity to shoot."

"He won't have a lot of ball rights. You all ask him how to pick-and-roll, all-match, and defend. The ball will be in Doncic's hands, then James, and then Reeves. No one will give him the ball, let him go to the middle distance and complete his movements."

"It's not that Ayton can't complete those technical moves, but that's not the way to inspire the best of the Lakers, and that's not what the Lakers need."

"I like Ayton's body shape, because the Lakers need body shape, the basket protector. And they need that."
